The 2020 Philippe and Maria Halphen Grand Prize is awarded to Mathias Pessiglione, Inserm Research Director. A biologist and psychologist, he currently heads a research team in cognitive neuroscience at the Brain Institute (AP-HP / CNRS / Inserm / Sorbonne University).
His project is to understand the brain mechanisms that motivate behavior, in normal and pathological situations. His work has led him to propose a battery of diagnostic tests for patients suffering from mental illness, which make it possible to limit motivational disturbances and therefore to personalize care.
